Case Studies

An independent boarding and day school for 240 girls aged 11-18yrs. The school is housed in a beautiful Italian Renaissance manor house, originally built by the Holford family in the 19th century.

The Challenge

The school needed new telephone extensions in remote areas of the 250-acre site where no cables reached, and were looking for the support of a provider who could advise them on the best way to manage their ongoing communications needs.

Our Solution

A more traditional cabled solution would have required underground ductwork and significant new infrastructure, but we managed to avoid this by utilising the school's existing fibre network and the latest 'Voice over IP' (VoIP) technology to carry the calls. Using this system, telephone calls are delivered in digital form (much like Internet traffic) across fibre-optic cables. This enables the call quality to be kept high over long distances. This system, backed by our ISO9001-accredited levels of support and maintenance, ensures a more reliable service for the customer.

Added Feature - Disaster Recovery

We had been supporting the school's communications system for almost two years when a lightning strike damaged the network and telephone lines. We responded with a loan system within 4 hours of the Mayday call, and were back on site a few days later as the lines were reinstated to install a complete new Avaya IP Office system.
